This bill addresses participation in athletic activities reserved for female students in public and higher education. It requires public schools and private schools that compete against public schools to designate their school athletic activities as "male" or "boys'", "female" or "girls'", or "coed" or "mixed". It prohibits students of the male sex from participating in activities designated as "female" or "girls'". The bill also allows students or schools that are deprived of athletic opportunities or suffer harm as a result of a violation of this law to bring a private cause of action for injunctive relief, damages, and other relief. Additionally, the bill waives governmental immunity for claims related to the preservation of sports for female students.
