Bill Summary

AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to allowing school districts to permit home-schooled students to participate in district interscholastic sports

AI Summary

This bill amends the education law to allow school districts to establish policies that permit home-schooled students to try out for and participate in the district's interscholastic sports teams. The policy must require home-schooled students to meet the same responsibilities, standards of behavior, and eligibility requirements as public school students, including health examinations, immunizations, age eligibility, and academic requirements. Home-schooled students can only participate in the sports teams of their district of residence, and transportation must be provided by the student's parent or guardian.
