This bill, known as the "Taxpayer Voter Registration Act," allows taxpayers to register to vote or update their voter registration when filing their taxes or changing their residential address. It requires the state's tax department to electronically transmit voter registration information, such as voter eligibility and party affiliation, to the state and local boards of elections. The boards of elections must then identify eligible unregistered individuals and send them a notice with instructions on how to register or decline registration. The bill also allows the state's motor vehicle department to provide voter registration signature exemplars to the boards of elections upon request.
