This bill requires school districts, county offices of education, and charter schools to annually inform parents and guardians of pupils about California's child access prevention laws and laws relating to the safe storage of firearms. The bill requires the State Department of Education to develop and update model language for this notice, and provides immunity from civil liability to local educational agencies and private schools that use the model language. If the Commission on State Mandates determines that the bill contains costs mandated by the state, the state is required to reimburse local agencies and school districts for those costs.
