This bill enacts the Kansas Home Inspectors Professional Competence and Financial Responsibility Act, which establishes a registration requirement for home inspectors operating in the state. The bill creates the Kansas Home Inspectors Advisory Council to assist the Attorney General with implementing the law, and grants the Attorney General authority to administer and enforce the Act, including registering qualified applicants, investigating complaints, and adopting rules and regulations. The bill sets forth requirements for home inspectors to register, including liability insurance coverage and proof of financial responsibility, as well as educational and testing requirements. The bill also exempts certain professions, such as licensed architects and engineers, from the registration requirement when acting within the scope of their licenses. The provisions of the Act are set to expire on July 1, 2027.
