This bill establishes the "New York State Veterans Cemetery Act" and directs the Division to conduct an investigation and study on the establishment of a New York State Veterans Cemetery Funding Program. The purpose of the program would be to encourage financial contributions from individuals, groups, and corporations to the Veterans Remembrance and Cemetery Maintenance and Operation Fund, which was created to provide funding for veterans cemeteries in New York. The Division is also directed to seek grants and contributions from governments and other institutional funding sources for the Fund to be used for constructing, operating, and financing New York State veterans cemeteries. The Division is required to produce an annual report on the activities and operation of the program and provide recommendations to the legislature on establishing, maintaining, and operating state veterans cemeteries.
