This bill appropriates $3 million from the general fund to the Higher Education Department for Central New Mexico Community College to develop and operate intensive, short-term "boot camp" training programs for unemployed and underemployed workers. The goals are to improve long-term economic and workforce development statewide. The funding can be used to provide tuition waivers and living stipends to high-need learners, develop and maintain boot camp programs to meet the needs of New Mexico employers, license boot camp curricula to other educational organizations, and cover indirect costs incurred by the college in delivering the training.
