The existing law allows physicians to provide certain medical services to minors, such as treatment for venereal diseases, substance use disorders, and mental health counseling, without parental consent. However, the bill introduces a new provision that specifically requires parental or guardian consent for any healthcare services related to a minor's desire to identify with, present, appear, or live as a gender that does not correspond to their sex at birth.
