This bill removes the six-year limitation on the imposition of the water and sanitation gross receipts tax. The existing law allows a governing body to impose a one-quarter percent tax on businesses within a water and sanitation district if approved by voters, with the revenue dedicated to the operation of the district. This bill removes the previous requirement that the tax expire after six years, allowing the governing body to continue imposing the tax indefinitely as long as it is approved by voters.
