This bill adds a new chapter to Idaho's education laws to provide that students may receive credit for extended learning opportunities or by demonstrating prior knowledge of a content area. The bill defines "extended learning opportunity" as an out-of-classroom learning experience that provides enrichment, career readiness, or other educational opportunities approved by the state or the student's school district or charter school. School districts and charter schools must adopt policies to approve and award credit for eligible extended learning opportunities, and students can request credit for demonstrating proficiency in a subject area without taking the course. The state board of education is also required to adopt a policy regarding extended learning opportunities.
