This bill amends existing law to revise provisions regarding contracts between dental insurance providers and dental service providers. Specifically, it prohibits dental insurance providers from requiring dentists to agree to fees for non-covered dental services, and requires dental insurance providers to offer payment methods that provide 100% of the contracted amount to dentists without additional fees. The bill also allows dental insurance providers to extend their provider network to other entities, provided they disclose any changes and give dentists at least two weeks to decline participation. These new provisions apply to contracts issued after December 31, 2021, and existing contracts must be brought into compliance by the next renewal or anniversary date, whichever is later.
