This bill amends existing Florida law to provide a presumption that emergency rescue or public safety workers who contract certain communicable or infectious diseases, including hepatitis, meningococcal meningitis, tuberculosis, and any disease declared a public health emergency, suffered a disability in the line of duty. The bill requires certain immunizations or vaccines to be approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, and it establishes procedures for workers to verify their exposure history to qualify for the presumption. The bill also requires employers to maintain records of known or suspected worker exposures and notify employees accordingly. The changes take effect on July 1, 2021.
