This bill amends Section 7401 of the Michigan Public Health Code to modify the crime of manufacturing, delivering, or possessing with intent to deliver heroin or fentanyl, as well as other opiates, and to reflect changes in the associated sentencing guidelines. The bill increases the maximum sentences for larger quantities of these substances while reducing the sentences for smaller amounts. It also allows for consecutive sentencing and provides a process for individuals sentenced to lifetime probation under the previous law to potentially be discharged from probation.
