This bill amends the Transportation Law and the Executive Law to require the development of a scannable code that links to translations of work zone and truss type construction signs. Specifically, the Department of Transportation must develop a scannable code that, when scanned, determines the user's location and displays the sign's contents in the most commonly spoken language other than English and Spanish within a 10-mile radius. Additionally, work zone signs and truss type construction signs must be printed in English, Spanish, and contain the scannable code. These changes are intended to improve the safety and accessibility of work zones and truss type construction sites for people who may not speak English or Spanish.
