This bill extends certain return-to-work provisions for educational retirees in New Mexico. The key provisions are: 1) It extends the requirement for retired members to suspend their retirement benefits if they return to employment with a local administrative unit at a level greater than one-quarter full-time until January 1, 2024 (previously January 1, 2022). 2) It extends the provision allowing retired members who retired on or before January 1, 2001 to return to employment without suspending their retirement benefits until January 1, 2024 (previously January 1, 2022). 3) It allows retired members who have not rendered service to a local administrative unit for at least 90 days after retirement, did not have a prior agreement to return to work, and earn less than $15,000 per year to return to work without suspending their retirement benefits.
