This bill, the Workforce and Economic Prosperity Act, creates the Workforce and Economic Prosperity Council to develop a statewide framework to develop a clean energy workforce, expand economic inclusion, and create a sustainable economy in New Mexico. The council is tasked with creating an economic inclusion strategic plan that includes specific steps to implement the recommendations of the New Mexico clean energy workforce development study, identify ways to diversify and stabilize the state's economy, and support communities in developing sustainable economic development plans. The bill also directs the General Services Department and the Workforce Solutions Department to adopt procurement and workforce development rules to ensure all New Mexicans, particularly those in disproportionately impacted communities, have access to the job opportunities created by the implementation of the clean energy workforce development recommendations.
