This bill prohibits members and employees of local boards of education in New Jersey from engaging in various political activities while on school property or acting in an official capacity, including delivering mail-in ballots or applications, soliciting or accepting political contributions (defined as money or other things of value given to influence elections), sending political electronic communications, distributing campaign materials, participating in campaigns for public office, displaying campaign materials on their person or vehicle (except for bumper stickers), attending or promoting events for candidates or political parties, or using their official position to influence others' political actions. It also prohibits the use of school property, such as stationery, phones, or computers, for political purposes. Violators are considered disorderly persons and face fines of up to $1,000, imprisonment for up to six months, or both.
