This bill would extend until January 1, 2024 existing laws that: 1) Prohibit the governing body or electors of a city, county, or city and county that has not authorized legal gaming prior to January 1, 1996 from authorizing legal gaming, and prohibit an ordinance in effect on January 1, 1996 that authorizes legal gaming from being amended to expand gaming beyond what was permitted on that date. 2) Prohibit the California Gambling Control Commission from issuing a gambling license for a gambling establishment that was not licensed to operate on December 31, 1999, except as specified. The bill aims to maintain the current status quo on the authorization and expansion of legal gambling in California for an additional year.
