This Joint Resolution officially designates September of each year as "Alopecia Areata Awareness Month" in New Jersey. Alopecia areata is an autoimmune skin disease that causes hair loss, affecting millions of people across all ages and backgrounds, and for which there is currently no cure. The resolution aims to increase public understanding of this condition, foster support for those affected, and encourage greater research and funding to improve treatments and find a cure. To achieve this, the Governor will annually issue a proclamation urging public officials, healthcare professionals, and citizens to participate in activities and programs that raise awareness about alopecia areata.
