This bill amends existing law to revise provisions regarding standards for Medicare supplement policies and certificates. It allows for an annual period during which a policyholder may terminate an existing Medicare supplement policy and purchase any other comparable or lesser policy on a guaranteed issue basis. The bill also prohibits attained age rating for policies issued after February 28, 2022, and allows for community rating. Additionally, the bill grants the director of insurance the authority to adopt rules to conform Medicare supplement policies and certificates to federal requirements, including establishing a process for approving or disapproving policy forms and certificate forms, and holding public hearings prior to approving premium increases.
