This bill amends the Texas Health and Safety Code to allow home and community support services agencies or their registered nurse or licensed vocational nurse employees to purchase, store, and administer additional vaccines, including any vaccine approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to treat or mitigate the spread of a communicable disease, in addition to the existing authorized vaccines such as hepatitis B, influenza, tuberculosis, and pneumococcal polysaccharide. The bill would take immediate effect if it receives a two-thirds vote of all members elected to each house of the Texas legislature, or otherwise would take effect on September 1, 2021.
