This Resolution requests the Department of Education to create and implement a social studies course for high school students focused on Filipino history, culture, and identity, aiming to address the underrepresentation of Filipinos in the education system and combat anti-Asian hate crimes by fostering greater understanding and appreciation of Asian American history and contributions, particularly given that Filipinos are the largest Asian ethnic group in Hawaii and a significant portion of the student population. The resolution also calls for the integration of Filipino content into existing curriculum standards, including language arts, math, science, and arts, and for the recruitment and support of Filipino teachers to deliver this content, with certified copies to be sent to the Chairperson of the Board of Education and the Interim Superintendent of Education.
