This bill amends Section 32-5A-80 of the Alabama law to require the Department of Transportation to post signs on interstate highways giving notice of restrictions against driving in the leftmost lane for more than 1.5 miles without passing another vehicle. The bill provides some exceptions where driving in the leftmost lane is permitted, such as during traffic congestion, inclement weather, or when exiting the highway. The bill also specifies the placement of these signs, requiring them to be installed within the first two miles of the beginning of any interstate highway and every 50 miles thereafter, as well as at any intersection of interstate highways.
