This bill amends the Texas Tax Code to allow municipalities to use their municipal hotel occupancy tax revenue for certain infrastructure projects and public parks. Specifically, the bill defines "qualified infrastructure" to include roads, water and sewer systems, and storm drainage systems that are within one mile of a hotel. The bill also allows municipalities to use up to 20% of their hotel occupancy tax revenue to acquire, construct, repair, remodel, or expand this qualified infrastructure, as well as to make improvements to public parks within one mile of a hotel. The bill includes provisions to ensure that municipalities maintain their current funding levels for the promotion of tourism and the convention and hotel industry.
