This Resolution formally requests the United States Department of Transportation (USDOT) to investigate the safety of the bridges along the Hana Highway in Hawaii. The Hana Highway is a highly popular tourist destination and a congested route, with numerous bridges along its 64.4-mile length. Given concerns about the condition of some of these bridges and the potential risk to both tourists and residents, this request is being made in light of a significant federal infrastructure bill that includes substantial funding for bridge repair and rehabilitation. The resolution also mandates that certified copies of this request be sent to relevant government officials, including the U.S. Secretary of Transportation and state and county transportation departments.
