This bill clarifies the elements of the criminal offense of illegal voting in Texas. It amends the Election Code to add a new provision that makes it a crime to knowingly vote or attempt to vote in an election in Texas after voting in another state in an election where a federal office appears on the ballot and the election day is the same in both states. The bill also renumbers the existing provisions of the illegal voting offense. The bill takes effect on September 1, 2021.
