This bill amends the Texas Business & Commerce Code to require entities that experience a breach of security involving the personal information of at least 250 Texas residents to notify the state Attorney General within 60 days of discovering the breach. The bill also requires the Attorney General to post a public listing of these breach notifications on the Attorney General's website, excluding any sensitive personal information or details that could compromise the security of the affected systems. The bill takes effect on September 1, 2021.
