This bill amends the Occupations Code to establish new procedures for handling complaints against health care practitioners. It requires a licensing entity that receives a complaint against a health care practitioner licensed by a different entity to promptly forward the complaint to that entity. The bill also prohibits a licensing entity from taking disciplinary action on a complaint against a practitioner licensed by a different entity, unless the complaint is referred back to the original entity for investigation and resolution. The changes in this bill apply to complaints filed on or after the effective date, which is either immediately if it receives the necessary two-thirds vote, or on September 1, 2021.
