This Concurrent Resolution requests the Director of the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs and the Contractors License Board to ensure that the Contractors License Board always has at least two members who are Specialty Contractors with experience in specific structural contracting areas, such as carpentry framing, masonry, or welding, and whose licenses were not automatically granted due to holding a general contractor license. The resolution also asks these entities to explore the possibility of creating an advisory committee for structural contracting issues and to review whether current rules for automatically issuing certain structural specialty licenses to general contractors are adequate for public safety. Finally, the Department and the Board are required to report their findings and any proposed legislative changes to the Legislature by a specific date.
