This bill modifies special permits for hauling construction materials in Minnesota. It amends the existing law (Minnesota Statutes 2020, section 169.869) to expand the definition of "construction materials" to include a broader range of materials used in construction projects. The bill also increases the maximum gross vehicle weight limits for six-axle and seven-axle vehicles hauling construction materials, subject to certain restrictions and requirements. The revenue from the permits issued under this section will be deposited in the bridge inspection and signing account. Additionally, the bill allows for the expiration date of the permits to be aligned with the vehicle's registration and requires the commissioner to make permit information available online. It also encourages permit holders to operate on local preferred routes identified by local road authorities.
