This Concurrent Resolution requests that the City and County of Honolulu establish a working group to develop recommendations for improving sidewalk maintenance, recognizing that sidewalks are essential for residents' exercise, recreation, transportation, and safety, and that poorly maintained sidewalks can cause injuries and impede access, especially for the elderly and those with mobility impairments. This group is tasked with reviewing current sidewalk maintenance policies and procedures, including how complaints are handled and how sidewalks are prioritized for repair, analyzing the time it took to complete repairs in the 2020-2021 fiscal year, and proposing ways to make repairs more efficient and improve public communication about complaint resolutions, with a report due to the Legislature before the 2023 session.
