It calls for the federal strategy to ensure the conservation and restoration of U.S. biodiversity, secure essential ecosystem services, meet international sustainability goals, set ambitious protection targets, promote social equity in conservation, coordinate federal agency actions, foster collaboration among various levels of government and stakeholders, honor federal trust obligations to indigenous peoples, provide global leadership, improve biodiversity resilience, address local stressors like pollution and invasive species, and raise public awareness. Furthermore, the strategy should include plans to conserve at least thirty percent of U.S. lands and waters by 2030, protect at-risk species, review and improve existing conservation laws and programs, and recommend new legislation and funding sources.
