This Concurrent Resolution requests the Chairperson of the Board of Land and Natural Resources, a state official responsible for managing Hawaii's natural resources, to collaborate with the Secretary of the Army, the head of the U.S. Army, to finalize the transfer of Dillingham Airfield, also known as Kawaihapai Airfield, to the State of Hawaii. The airfield, which has been a military installation since 1927 and used for general aviation since 1962, is recognized globally for its ideal conditions for recreational activities like skydiving and glider planes, contributing significantly to the local and state economy. Although a previous federal law, the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 1991, authorized the conveyance of eighty-seven acres of this land to Hawaii, the transfer has not yet been completed, and this resolution aims to expedite that process by urging state and federal officials to enter into the necessary agreements for the conveyance.
