This bill amends the Public Officers Law to establish new residency requirements for paid firefighters in a city with a population of one million or more. Specifically, it requires any person appointed as a paid member of the uniformed force of a paid fire department in such a city to become a resident of any political subdivision or municipal corporation within the city within one year of their appointment and to continue residing within such a subdivision or corporation. The bill also makes technical amendments to existing residency provisions related to other public employees in cities with a population over one million.
