This bill aims to improve dam and hydropower safety. The bill also requires FERC to establish procedures to assess the financial viability of license applicants to meet dam safety requirements and operate the dam and project works. Additionally, it mandates a technical conference between FERC and the states to discuss dam maintenance, risk assessment, climate impacts, and high-hazard dams. Finally, the bill requires FERC to communicate with states when it issues dam safety findings, initiates non-compliance proceedings, or revokes a license, and to provide states with relevant records upon license revocation or surrender.
