This bill amends Section 3 of Chapter 32 of the General Laws to expand the definition of "public safety employees" for the purposes of retirement classification. Specifically, it adds Commonwealth and eligible Cambridge Health Alliance/Cambridge Hospital employees whose regular and major duties require them to provide treatment or care for individuals who are mentally ill, intellectually or developmentally disabled, chronically psychologically impaired, or have a chronic infectious disease. The bill also includes registered nurses and other healthcare professionals who are state employees or eligible Cambridge Health Alliance/Cambridge Hospital employees in a professional status for the purposes of their retirement.
