This bill allows local licensing authorities to grant an additional class of licenses, known as a "food store license," for the sale of wines and malt beverages not to be consumed on the premises. The bill sets requirements for food stores to obtain these licenses, including dedicating no more than 35% of their total selling area for the display of wines and malt beverages. The bill also establishes age verification and employee training policies for these licensed food stores, and creates a fund to provide small business support grants to certain existing licensed premises located near newly-issued food store licenses. Additionally, the bill allows for certain joint purchasing arrangements and storage of alcoholic beverages by food store licensees.
