This bill amends the first paragraph of Section 12 of Chapter 32 of the General Laws to update the provisions for Option (D) survivor allowance beneficiaries. Specifically, it allows a member to nominate one or more eligible beneficiaries to receive a portion of the Option (C) allowance the member would have received had they retired on the date of their death. If multiple beneficiaries are nominated, the benefit will be calculated using the youngest beneficiary's age at the time of the member's death. Additionally, upon the death of a beneficiary, the payments to the surviving beneficiaries will remain unchanged.
