This bill, called the Military Spouse Licensing Relief Act of 2021, amends the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act to provide for the portability of professional licenses of members of the uniformed services and their spouses. Specifically, the bill allows servicemembers or their spouses who hold a professional license in good standing in one jurisdiction and relocate to a new jurisdiction due to military orders to have their license considered valid in the new jurisdiction, as long as they provide a copy of their military orders, remain in good standing with the original licensing authority, and submit to the authority of the licensing authority in the new jurisdiction. The bill also specifies that if a servicemember or their spouse is licensed and able to operate in multiple jurisdictions through an interstate licensure compact, they will be subject to the requirements of the compact or the applicable provisions of law of the applicable state, rather than the portability provisions in this bill.
