AI Summary

This bill, the Immigrants' Mental Health Act of 2021, aims to expand and improve access to trauma-informed mental health interventions for newly arriving immigrants at the border. It requires the Commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to develop and implement training curricula for CBP agents and officers to help them identify mental health risk factors and warning signs in immigrants and refugees, as well as address the mental health and wellness of the CBP personnel themselves. The bill also requires the assignment of at least one qualified mental or behavioral health expert to each CBP detention facility to evaluate the mental health needs of immigrants, refugees, border patrol agents, and staff.
