This bill establishes a sexual assault counselor certification task force to make recommendations on updating the statutory definitions of "rape crisis center" and "sexual assault counselor", the curriculum and training hours required for certification of rape crisis center and program employees and volunteers, the appropriateness of "levels" of certification, a fee structure for certification, the feasibility of licensing rape crisis centers, and the feasibility of providing continuing education and college credits with the completion of training programs. The task force will submit a report with its findings and any proposed legislation within 12 months of the effective date of the act.
