This bill establishes a Board of Examiners of Motor Vehicle Mechanics within the Division of Professional Licensure. The board will consist of the Commissioner of Public Safety or their designee, the Director of Professional Licensure or their designee, and five appointed members, four of whom must be motor vehicle mechanics with at least 10 years of practical experience, and one of whom must be a representative of the public. The board will have the power to set qualifications for licensing motor vehicle mechanics, adopt rules and regulations governing the licensure of mechanics and related businesses and schools, establish standards of professional and ethical conduct, set continuing education requirements, and investigate complaints and conduct inspections.
