Bill Summary

Relative to creditable service for certain state contract employees. Public Service.

AI Summary

This bill allows certain state contract employees to establish up to 10 years of creditable service in the state employees' retirement system, if they have at least 10 years of continuous, full-time service as a contract employee, and their job description is substantially similar to the position they hold as a state employee. To establish this creditable service, the employee must pay into the retirement system the amount that would have been withheld as regular deductions during their time as a contract employee, plus interest. The state retirement board will notify eligible members of their options to either pay the required amount in a lump sum or through an installment agreement within 180 days.
