This bill seeks to amend the existing laws regarding motor vehicle service contracts in Massachusetts. Additionally, the bill prohibits motor vehicle manufacturers, distributors, or franchisor representatives from requiring or coercing dealers to exclusively sell or offer extended service contracts, maintenance plans, or similar products. However, it allows manufacturers, distributors, or representatives to provide incentives to encourage voluntary sales of such products. The bill also exempts certain types of warranties, service contracts, and maintenance agreements from the applicable laws.
