This bill enhances the registration and oversight of the podiatric profession. It establishes a Board of Registration in Podiatry within the Board of Registration in Medicine, consisting of five members, including three podiatrists, one physician, and one public representative. The bill grants the Board of Registration in Medicine the authority to review and approve rules and regulations proposed by the Podiatry Board. Additionally, the bill requires the Podiatry Board to promulgate regulations jointly with the Board of Registration in Medicine and in consultation with the Commissioner of Public Health, to ensure that podiatrists are subject to requirements commensurate to those that physicians are subject to, including the creation and public dissemination of individual profiles, licensure restrictions, disciplinary actions, claims or reports of malpractice, and other aspects of professional conduct and discipline.
