This bill amends Chapter 111 of the General Laws to establish minimum floor area and bed placement requirements for resident bedrooms in nursing homes. Specifically, it requires single occupancy rooms to have at least 125 square feet of floor area and multiple occupancy rooms to have at least 90 square feet per bed, with beds spaced at least 4 feet from walls and 3 feet from each other. The bill exempts nursing homes licensed before the effective date of the act from these requirements, but Section 2 repealing this exemption will take effect on January 1, 2025.
