This bill establishes an Office of Adult Decisional Support Services within the Executive Office of the Trial Court in Massachusetts. The purpose of the office is to implement legal and ethical standards for adult guardianship and conservatorship services, as well as voluntary alternatives to judicial appointment. The office will be led by a Judicial Administrator of Decisional Support who will have significant experience in this area and report to the Chief Justice of the Trial Court. The Judicial Administrator will have the authority to review cases, develop databases, communicate with court personnel and decisional fiduciaries, and propose administrative or judicial procedures to ensure proper oversight and accountability of these services, particularly for the indigent. The bill also gives the Judicial Administrator the ability to take action in cases of suspected abuse, neglect, or other wrongdoing by decisional fiduciaries.
