This bill amends the law governing the Teche-Vermilion Freshwater District. It changes the composition of the board of commissioners that oversees the district. Specifically, it requires one member from each of the parishes in the district to be selected by the governing authority of that parish. It also includes one member from St. Landry Parish, who can only vote on matters related to drainage and flooding. Additionally, the bill requires the appointment of one non-voting member who is a civil engineer or has a focus in hydrology, selected by the governor from candidates proposed by the state legislators representing the district. The bill becomes effective on January 8, 2022.
