This bill amends Pennsylvania's public ethics laws to prohibit public officials and employees, as well as their spouses, from soliciting or accepting certain types of gifts and payments from individuals or entities that have a contractual, business, or financial relationship with the official's or employee's governmental body, or who are seeking to influence legislation. The bill provides exceptions for gifts from relatives or friends, campaign contributions, informational materials, awards and prizes, academic degrees and awards, and certain types of training and educational missions. The bill also lowers the reporting threshold for gifts from $250 to $50 per year from the same source and eliminates the reporting threshold for payments or reimbursements for transportation, lodging, hospitality, cash, or other economic gifts.
