This bill establishes the Pennsylvania Preferred® Food Bucks Program, which provides benefit incentives for SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) recipients who use their SNAP benefits to purchase targeted food items, such as fruits and vegetables, at participating retailers. The program will be administered by a Pennsylvania nonprofit organization or entity that meets certain criteria, including submitting a plan for infrastructure development, conducting research and evaluation, and agreeing to provide a minimum 40-cent incentive for every dollar of SNAP benefits redeemed. The Department of Human Services and the Department of Agriculture may use federal and state funds to support the program's administration.
